With Phil being at work for longer hours than before, this year has been an interesting adjustment for our family.  We’ve had to get used to the idea of regular “girls nights” and “girls weekends” – and not the ones that scream REST and RELAXATION.  (They usually do scream, though.  BAHA.)

This past weekend, Phil hosted a band and choir event which had him gone before we woke up and us asleep before he got home.  Even though he hadn’t left the country, Juliet hadn’t seen Phil since last Tuesday and it can be difficult to distract her from wanting her MOST FAVOURITE PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD for that many days in a row.  So, we keep busy.

Sometimes we bake…

If there isn’t a real celebration happening (like in this picture), we make them up. #BarbieBirthday #BeanieBooBirthday

And when I say “we bake”, I mean WE ALL BAKE. Hence why our final products often look…..well-loved.

Sometimes we have a “tubby”…

If we wear bathing suits, we call it a pool party.

If Auntie is around, we tag team the creation of foam shapes to keep the girls occupied for a complete hot coffee.

Sometimes we watch “Claire” sing Disney songs on Ellen (“AGAIN!” and “AGAIN!!!!”) while we colour…

Her rendition of “Moana” is a MUST WATCH. We are obsessed.

Sometimes we do crafts on opposite sides of the art easel because it’s the only way we can get along…

Easels were most definitely inspired by sibling rivalry.

Sometimes we put on fancy dresses and play with tennis balls in the courtyard…

I definitely think they nailed this activity. FANCY DRESSES & FETCH.

Sometimes we are inspired by REALLY CREATIVE MOMS on Instagram…

A perfect activity for Nory to practice her scissor skills!

The finished product! Check out @katherinemaries :)

Sometimes we are inspired by REALLY FUN MOMS Pinterest…

Washing up some small toys…..

Thumbs up for “cupcakes”!!!!

Sometimes, we have friends over to play or fake sleep…

If only this nap were FOR REAL….sigh….

And SOMETIMES, we all end up having a meltdown and the day is less than fine…

Thankfully, this week’s second meltdown was kept to a minimum.  Phil’s hosting gig is over and “all he has” next weekend is a track and field meet ;)

I wonder what our GIRLS SATURDAY will entail.  Really hoping for another round of FANCY DRESSES & FETCH…

You are the cutest mom! So many fun ideas! You do a great job of keeping those girls entertained and happy. You are creative and patient and so supportive of Phil! What a darling little family. Your girls are just beautiful! Eleanor has the best hair. Your girls are lucky to have each other. BFF’s. So nice. I wish Naomi had a sister!
